Getting Skintimate pt. 2

For anyone who related to my last post about my struggle with bad skin, here’s a little update about the progress I’ve made.

Last weekend I had my second session of microdermabrasion and my esthetician was so happy with how much better my skin looked since the last time I had seen her, a month prior. I haven’t been getting those big under the skin pimples anymore and my skin is overall smoother than it has been in a while. The acne part of my struggle is pretty much under control and now I’m focusing on getting rid of the redness and marks left behind.

Thanks to my esthetician, I have an easy and effective skincare routine that I now swear by.

Step 1. I use a makeup wipe to remove as much makeup as I can.

Step 2. I wash my face with Boscia Clear Complexion Cleanser and wipe away with a washcloth. I swear this has been the biggest lifesaver! Instead of moving around all the dirt on your face, which is what happens when you rinse with water, the washcloth takes everything off your face and exfoliates.

Step 3. I use witch hazel on a cotton ball, which is the best natural toner.

Step 4. Next, I  use Clarins Mission Perfection Serum for dark spots and to even out my skin tone overall. It smells sooo good!

Step 5. At night, I switch off between two topical prescription creams I got from the dermatologist – Epiduo and a Retina-a cream. In the morning I use Aczone, another prescription cream.

Step 6. Moisturize. I’ve been using Clarins Hydra-Essential Cooling Gel for normal to combination skin. It smells really good but I wish it was a pump rather than having to scoop it out.

I’ve been doing this every morning and night for about two months along with facials whenever I can. I was so stressed out about the state of my skin but after significant progress I feel like a weight has been lifted. I’m not brave enough to do a before and after but I am hoping I can get to the point where I am comfortable enough to go makeup free! Stay tuned!
