An Unexpected Match

Mixing navy and black is usually thought of as a fashion faux pas but it’s actually one of my favorite color combinations! I think the two colors look so chic and polished when paired together. It’s a subtle and sophisticated look that can be done in so many ways. As you probably already know, I wear mostly neutral colors and navy is definitely a staple for me. When I want to steer away from wearing all black, I just pop some navy into the mix! Here are some of my favorite ways to pair them.

The easiest way to mix navy and black together is within the same piece. This sweater has been one of my favorites this season. I just love that only the sleeves are navy. It’s a little unexpected but so adorable.

Don’t mind my messy room – sweater is from Anthropologie

Another really simple way to mix navy and black is just a navy top with black pants! It’s a no brainer. I like the way the white breaks up the two in this outfit and goes back to the tuxedo stripe on the pants.

Please excuse the dog hair – sweater is old from J.Crew and pants are from Zara

Another way to work navy and black into the same outfit is with accessories. All black is a go to when I don’t know what to wear but adding navy accessories, like a clutch and shoes, makes the outfit a little different and more fun.

Shirt – Old Navy; Jeans – Old Navy; Heels – Tory Burch; Slides – Seychelles

One of my favorite ways to wear navy and black together is an all black outfit with a navy vest (shocking, right?) or a jacket over it. I love this navy leather jacket and the way it adds some color to this outfit without being too loud.

Jacket – Zara; Jeans – Old Navy; Booties – Rebecca Minkoff; Clutch – Banana Republic

Black doesn’t have to be the main color! All navy is so chic, paired with black accessories and you’re good to go!

Top – White House Black Market; Jeans – Gap; Pumps – Sarah Jessica Parker; Clutch – Rebecca Minkoff; Earrings – Bauble Bar
